Do you love food? So you’ll love this news: FICO Eataly World, the world’s largest food themed park, opened their doors this month in Bologna, Italy. 100,000 square meters to learn, explore, discover and of course, eat!
The food themed park was designed to introduce visitors to all stages of the food production process, from the fields to the kitchens and from the kitchens to the consumers.
The numbers are superlative, in the fields and stables there are over 200 animals and 2000 crops. For the transportation, tricycles equipped with shopping baskets are available to the public. There is also a hotel, cinema, classrooms and auditorium for congress with 1000 seats in the complex. Everything is sustainable, from food production to space architecture.
More than 40 food manufacturing workshops will be offered, including pasta, cheese, wine and olive oil. There are already 50 daily courses, from gardening to photography. The choice of courses was not random, the main purpose is to disseminate agri-food knowledge and awaken socio-environmental awareness in visitors. The courses are divided into six themes such as the relationship between man and fire and even the future of the agri-food system.
Again, the big numbers: more than 2000 companies are involved in the venture, 3000 new jobs will be created (700 were already created before the inauguration). The cost of the contract: 106 million euros. They expect 6 million visitors per year.
