Waterproof, lightweight and with unique design. What if all this were accompanied by social and environmental sustainability? This is the proposal of Green Banana Paper Co.
Instead of using leather as the main material for the wallet it creates, Green Banana Paper Co. from Kosrae, Micronesia uses discarded banana fibers.
To make things even better, this new business provides jobs for the island’s residents. The wallets are water resistant. Banana fibers are boiled to extract the cellulose so that it can be milled into a pulp, which is then molded and screen-printed.
